Temporary additional vehicles
Qualifications
Temporary additional vehicles may be added
for the use of
a. the insured / spouse
b. existing named driver (s) on a current
policy.- Maximum period of cover an aggregate
period of 30 days in any one period of
insurance - Maximum cover granted is the cover applying
to the policy prior to the addition of this
vehicle.
Important Notes
A Flat Premium charge of £40.00 applies in
addition to the daily rates and IPT should be
added.
Examples:
To provide Comprehensive cover for 1 day for
Group 24 car would cost:
£40 flat charge + £9.00 (£9.00 daily charge x 1
day) = £49.00 + IPT
To provide Third Party Fire & Theft cover for 30
days for a group 1 car, would cost:
£40 flat charge + £30.00 (£1.00 daily charge x 30
days) = £70.00 + IPT
Refer to AXA for Group 25 and over.
Where a policy is IOD or Insured and Spouse
(Driving on both vehicles restricted to I&S) and
the insured is selling the vehicle following a
permanent substitution, the old car may be
held on cover for 7 days free of charge. From the
eighth day onwards, charges as per the above
table should apply having given the benefit of
the first seven days free
Temporary substitutions
▶ Refer to AXA any temporary substitutions
exceeding 31 days.
▶ AXA EDI Certificate provides 7 days cover for
temporary substitution of vehicle up to 1.7
litre in engine size when the vehicle is in a
garage or an approved repairer.
▶ A cover note must be issued where cover is
required for 8 to 28 days or if vehicle is greater
than 1.7 litres.
▶ A cover note must be issued for all manual
policies.
▶ Temporary substitutions are subject to AXA
existing vehicle terms.
▶ No premium adjustment if no more than 9
groups higher than existing vehicle. Refer to
AXA if more than 9 groups higher.
