Referrals
- FRONTING Refer if risk includes named drivers under 25 years and there are 3 or more vehicles in the household, the proposer has regular use of another vehicle, the registration number on the proof on NCD does not match vehicle proposed, a named driver regularly uses the vehicle for business use or commuting to college/work. Remember these MUST be referred to AXA with details as per the AXA young driver declaration

- NCD earned outside UK or ROI
- Commuting to ROI if an overnight stay is required
- Temporary changes exceeding 28 days
- Temporary additional vehicles over group 25
- BIC in cover over 3 months or BIC under 3 months where there are named drivers under 25

Underwriting:
- Age: 17-90
- Car sorn: will only accept a sorn car if it is mot'd
- Any Driver: The restricted open driving policy is restricted to drivers aged 25-70 with full UK/ROI licence. The policy must have at least 1 year earned NCD and the normal claims/convictions rules apply
- Cancellations: £40.00 fee (over 14 days and no claims made on policy, will not refund any premium less than £12)
- Cover: Comprehensive (make sure YES is answered to windscreen question on OGI), TPF&T and TPO
- Break In Cover - BIC letter signed, time period TBC - NK 10/06/2024
- Gap In Cover - Vehicle undergoing repair or off road - refer to AXA if SORN is more than 12 months old
- Driving Other Cars: 25+ applies to cars only, not vans etc. Not given to those employed or associated with motor trade or whose occupation is "driver" so you need to be careful how occupation is input on OGI. Not given to disabled policyholders whose own car is fitted with alternative controls
- Excesses: Compulsory Excess is £100 – not payable if approved repairer used. Windscreen Excess is £100 – not payable if glass is repaired.
- Homeowner: Discount given
- Leased Vehicles: 12 month minimum lease, V5 is in finance company’s name
- Licence: UK/ROI/ EU, will refer on OGI for international
- New Car Replacement: less than one year old (see terms)
- Protected NCD: 2 claims in a 3 year period. Must have 5 years NCD or 5 years ex company car intro. Policyholder 25+ , additional driver 21+. 3 or more claims in a 3 year period reduces NCD to nil
- EU Use: cover for 90 days
- ROI Use: Commuting from a home address in NI to a work address in ROI is OK provided the policyholder permanently resides in NI, the vehicle has an NI registration number and cover is Comprehensive. Refer to Axa if overnight stay is required
- Mainland UK Use: Use in England, Scotland and Wales - cover applies up to a maximum of 90 days per annum if the policyholder is permanently resident in NI and the vehicle is registered in NI
- Residency: minimum of one month UK residency
- Search Consent: Needed
- Security - Thatcham 1 or 2 is required for vehicles from Group 30
- Sun Roof Cover: Included under Windscreen cover with Comprehensive policies

Vehicle ownership
▶ Vehicles must be owned and registered in
the name of the Insured or Spouse (including
Common Law).
▶ A vehicle hired or leased to the Insured under
a long-term agreement (minimum 1-year) is
acceptable.
▶ If ownership is in doubt, request the vehicle
registration certificate.
▶ Refer to AXA for vehicles owned by a
Company - Vehicle write offs: If vehicle previously written off by another Insurer for Category S & N, an Independent Engineers report is required before granting cover. Category A or B are unacceptable.
Cover:
- Courtesy car in the event of a total loss claim provided for up to 7 days
- No Compulsory Excess if Axa’s approved repairer is used
- No excess for Fire, Theft or Attempted Theft claims
- Free 7 day TSOV for a vehicle up to 1700cc whilst own car is on garage or approved repairer
- Personal belongings cover for up to £450 (Comprehensive)
- Manufacturers permanently fitted entertainment, navigational or audio equipment: covered up to £500
- Child car seat and equipment up to £500, won't affect NCB.
- Replacement Locks: We will pay you up to £500 towards replacing your car’s locks and alarm if the keys for it are stolen from your home through force or violence.
- Uninsured Driver Promise: If you make a claim for an accident that is not your fault and the driver of the car that hits you is not insured, you will not lose your No Claims Discount. You will be responsible for the excess.
