Courtesy Car
Our customers don't need to worry about how to get around if their car has been written off following an at fault accident. We will provide them with a courtesy car for three weeks.
Benefits:
- if the client has had an at fault accident and their vehicle is written off, a courtesy car will be provided for up to 21 days
- the courtesy car will be available within 48 hours of making a claim
- the car provided will be a manual gearshift, with the engine size of up to 1100cc
- the cover will commence after the expiry of any cover provided under the private car insurance policy client has with us
- the cost of this add on policy is just £15
Conditions & Exclusions:
- no cover if accident wasn't deemed at fault - usually in these cases the client will need to claim from the other party's insurer
- no cover if the policyholder has an automatic only driving licence
- no cover if the policyholder requires a car with any modifications
- the client must arrange comprehensive cover the the vehicle supplied - usually by insuring the vehicle temporarily under their private car policy. If required, cover may be provided by the hire company at their sole discretion and subject to their Insurer’s T&Cs. Any additional premiums/charges for adding the vehicle temporarily either to their own or the hire company's policy must be paid for by the policyholder
- no cover for any additional costs
- in the case of theft, there will be cover if a crime reference number is not supplied
- no cover for the cost of fuel and/or liquids for the hire vehicle
- the vehicle must be be owned by, or hired under contract hire, lease hire or hire purchase agreement to the policyholder
- the vehicle must be insured by us
- the vehicle must be a car, estate car or a 4 x 4 sports utility vehicle
- the vehicle cannot be used for hire or reward
- the vehicle must be registered in the United Kingdom
- if the client needs to use the cover outside of Northern Ireland, they would need to let us know first, as this would need to be referred to the hire company
Legal Expenses
Legal Expenses comes in useful if a client needs to make a claim against someone else following an accident. It will cover the cost of their legal fees if they want to pursue compensation. (For Full T&C's please refer to policy booklet)
Benefits:
- cover is arranged by Prestige and managed by Arc Legal Assistance Ltd.
- up to £100,000 legal cover for the recovery of uninsured losses such as recovery of policy excess and pursuing compensation for any injury sustained
- £25,000 cover for defence of motoring prosecutions
- payment of hire charges incurred by the insured person resulting from an incident involving an insured vehicle, provided criteria are met
- 24/7 legal helpline for advice on any legal matter, not just in relation to an accident
- notification of claims within 180 days
- the cost of this add-on policy is just £15
Conditions & Exclusions:
- no cover for any events that started before the inception of policy
- no cover if the likelihood of winning is less than 50%
- no cover where the amount in dispute is lower than the estimated cost to act for the policyholder (this excludes Uninsured Loss Recovery claims)
- no cover for any costs that are already covered under another insurance policy
- no cover for Stress, Emotional or Psychological Injury claims - however if these were caused in connection to a physical injury then legal assistance would assist in recovering compensation for both
- no cover if at the time of the incident the vehicle had no MOT or Tax, or didn't comply with any laws relating to its ownership or use (e.g. used for Class 3 use but insured as Class 1)
- client must follow the appointed solicitor's advice
For Motor Prosecution Defence claims:
- no cover if the driver doesn't hold a licence or is disqualified
- no cover if the driver is being prosecuted for driving under the influence of alcohol or un-prescribed drugs
- no cover for parking offences for which the policyholder would not get points for on their licence
- motoring prosecutions where the client's motor insurers have agreed to provide their legal defence
- no cover for costs where the policyholder is entitled to a grant of legal aid or where funding is available from another public body, a trade union, employer or any other insurance policy
Roadside Assistance
If a client has a breakdown at the side of the road it can cost quite a bit to be rescued. Platinum comes in handy as it offers unlimited mileage recovery anywhere in NI and ROI.
Benefits:
- roadside assistance for mechanical failure, puncture & lost or stolen keys
- 24 hours a day, 365 days a year emergency helpline
- up to one hour’s labour at the roadside if the vehicle can be repaired in situ.
- if the car can’t be repaired at the roadside, we can tow it to the nearest garage or home* (*mileage limits apply for towing in GB)
- use of a replacement car for up to 5 days while repairs are carried out
- use of a replacement car for up to 48 hours if the car is stolen
- overnight accommodation for one night*
- home start cover if the car breaks down outside the client's home
- cover for Electric Vehicles, including battery failure
- our car breakdown cover covers the vehicle in Northern Ireland, Great Britain and Republic of Ireland
- No Claims Bonus will NOT be affected if a claim is made
- message relay service - 2 urgent messages can be passed on to the client's contacts if needed
- cover for the cost of public transportation for the client to collect a repaired vehicle
- the cost of this add-on policy is just £30
Conditions & Exclusions:
- in the event of theft, it must be reported to the police before any benefit will apply
- the client must be with the vehicle when the repairer arrives
- a limit of 30 miles applies for towing if the breakdown site is in Great Britain
- overnight accommodation for one night only is limited to Bed and Breakfast, while repairs to the vehicle are in progress, subject to maximum value of £50 per person and £200 in total
- no cover for spare parts, spare wheels, keys, lubricants etc.
- no cover for claims where the vehicle is carrying more passengers or towing a greater weight than it was designed for
- no cover for vehicle repair costs except for the 1 hour labour at the roadside included in the cover
SmartFob Keycare
If a client wants protection for lost or stolen keys, SmartFob Keycare gives them the peace of mind they need.
Benefits:
- cover for lost and stolen keys, replacement locks and any call out charges up to the annual cover limit*
- the SmartFob feature lets the client locate their keys or mobile phone
- cover for locksmith charges if the client locks themselves out of their home or vehicle up to the call out limit*
- up to 3 days vehicle hire if their vehicle is unusable as a result of lost or stolen keys
- 24 hour, 365 days a year emergency helpline
- access to a nationwide network of locksmiths
- no excess to pay
- no claims discount on main home or motor policy not affected
- any of the keys attached to the SmartFob issued by Keycare are covered
- keycare pay the finder of the keys a £10 reward. The client will not be asked to contribute
- no details of the key owner are given to the finder, guaranteeing confidentiality and security
- the cost of this add-on policy is just £25
Conditions & Exclusions:
- annual cover limit is £1500
- keys must be attached to the fob
- the insured must advice Keycare of any incident within 45 days
- if the client decides to use their own locksmith, they must submit receipts to Keycare within 120 days of the incident
- no cover for broken locks
- car hire must be authorised by Keycare
- there is a 48 hour waiting period for lost keys (provided there is no security risk). There is no waiting period for stolen keys
- broken keys are covered up to £100
- maximum number of replacement keys is 1 per lock and 3 for house keys
Excess Insurance
Excess Insurance protects clients being out of pocket by reimbursing them for the excess paid following a claim
Benefits:
- higher excesses often can bring the price of insurance down, so by taking the Excess Insurance policy out, the client can opt for a higher excess if they wish to do so and have the peace of mind that they won't be out of pocket in the event of a claim
- it's an aggregate limit policy meaning that the cover provided is for any amount of claims per the policy year as long as the total doesn't exceed the total cover amount - see levels of cover below. This means if the client has taken out a Level 1 cover covering excess of up to £350 and their policy excess is £350, they will only be reimbursed for excess paid on 1 claim that year. But if they took out a Level 3 covering excess of up to £750, and their policy excess is £350, then they would be reimbursed for excess paid on 2 claims that year.

- Level 3- £40 (£501-£750 XS)
- Level 4- £45 (£751-£1000 XS)

Conditions & Exclusions:
- no cover for claims where the amount of excess is higher than the amount for the cost of damage (i.e. client has damaged a tail light costing £100 to repair it, but the policy excess is £400)
- no cover for motor claims arising from breakdown, misfuelling, windscreen repair or replacement or any glass repair or replacement to the vehicle
- claims must be notified to the Excess Insurance provider within 31 days of the claim settlement date
- the main insurance policy must be valid and must be in the policyholder's name
- no cover for claims for excess that are not in connection to a main insurance policy
- no cover if excess has been waived or reimbursed
- no cover if claim has been refused by the main insurance policy
- no cover if the accident took placed outside of the UK or ROI
- no cover if the vehicle is being used outside the use specified in the main insurance policy
- any losses caused by war, revolution or any similar event
- any losses caused by:
• ionising radiation or radioactive contamination from any nuclear fuel or from any nuclear waste
• which results from burning nuclear fuel; or
• radioactive, toxic, explosive or other dangerous properties of any nuclear machinery or any part of it.
